Our Mission

Local students deserve more
than a school day on an empty stomach.

Stafford DreamWise is a community initiative working hand in hand with Stafford County Public Schools to provide direct funding for students and families facing food insecurity. We believe that learning starts with nourishment, and that no child in our county should have to choose between paying attention in class and going home hungry.

Hunger is real. It is an enemy that lives in our community and preys on our children. When students are fed, they can dream.

— Annabelle Marschall

The Reality

A wealthy county
with a hidden hunger.

Stafford ranks 15th in Virginia by per capita income, yet thousands of local children wonder where their next meal will come from. The numbers reveal a quieter crisis unfolding inside our schools, and inside the homes of our neighbors.

75%
Free or reduced lunch eligibility
At Widewater and Rocky Run Elementary Schools, three out of four students qualify for free or reduced meal assistance.
9
Schools serving universal free meals
Nine Stafford schools meet federal Community Eligibility Provision criteria, identifying them as pockets of high need where every student qualifies.
50%
Drew Middle School students in need
More than half the student body at Drew Middle School qualifies for free or reduced meal benefits, alongside many other county schools.
